Since 1992, BusinessNorth has been the region's authority in business news. Founded by Wayne Nelson, it was purchased on April 1, 2010, by long-time area journalists Beth Bily and Ron Brochu. Beth passed away in 2024.

The paper covers business news across 17 counties in northern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin. Its "beat" is a $10 billion economy that supports approximately 450,000 people.
